Which Valgus species? - Valgus seticollis

Which Valgus species? - Valgus seticollis
Salem, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
November 24, 2006
Size: about 7 mm
Shows detail of forward tibial teeth and medial pronotal groove (canal?). In this image the beetle was still wet and therefore dark from a bath I gave it before the shoot in my light arena.

Another feature you will spot in some of these images is the small fan or patch of setae growing from the front of the eyeball. V. seti*collis also has this trait and it might well extend throughout the genus.
