Grasshopper nymph - Melanoplus bivittatus - female

Grasshopper nymph - Melanoplus bivittatus - Female
Chassell, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
August 1, 2013
This grasshopper nymph was on a Blackberry leaf in my yard. My yard is overgrown with Blackberry brambles.
Trees growing around the yard are Paper and Yellow Birch, White Spruce, White Pine, Red Maple and Poplar.
I took this photo at 2:30 p.m. The location is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake
Superior. Would anyone know which grasshopper this is?

I would say that it is a Two-striped Grasshopper
Melanoplus bivittatus. There is always a little room for doubt with nymphs of these two, but the dark markings on the hind femur barely cross the mid-line and tend to form a dark line there, which is more characteristic of a Two-striped.

Grasshopper nymph
Thank you David.

This would appear to be a Melanoplus nymph, either M. differentialis or M. bivittatus. Judging by habitat, I would guess the latter.
