From the Greek words for gold and honor, after the color of the species and the similarity to Chrysotus. (Loew, 1861)

Identification
One of a few genera with bristles on thorax yellowish instead of black. Abdomen often yellow. Nanomyia is similar but is restricted to the Atlantic shore.
Remarks
