Chilocorus bipustulatus? - Chilocorus bipustulatus
Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
October 6, 2013
Seen in last three years in the fall always on our lemon tree which has scale. Assume that's what it's feeding on. Very small - approx. 4mm. Tentative ID based on apparent food plant and pattern of spots on elytra.

Thanks Abigail!

yes, C. bipustulatus
The elytra are unique, especially in North America. It's interesting to see where the species shows up! The BugGuide records are mainly near large shipping ports, probably hitching rides with produce initially and then perhaps getting locally established.
