Explanation of Names
Specific epithet from
osse meaning "bone" for the "bone-color" features of the moth.

Heppner (2003) reported the range to include Massachusetts to Florida, Illinois to Texas.
(2)Season
The main flight period appears to be June to August.
Heppner (2003) lists May to July, September to October in Florida.
