Tenodera or Mantis? - Tenodera sinensis - female Tenodera or Mantis (religiosa)? - Tenodera sinensis - female

Date
When was this insect photographed? T. sinensis is most certainly not found in the adult stage in June in Indiana.

Tenodera sinensis (Chinese Mantid)
I think there is a mistake in your question in the title for Tenodera is a genus of mantid.

As for the species ID, I think it is most likely T. sinensis. It is an adult female.

My mistake; when I wrote "Man
My mistake; when I wrote "Mantis," I meant "Mantis religiosa".

Ah...
I guess I misread the "Mantis" for the order instead of the genus! Well this is definitely in Tenodera. It most likely is T. sinensis but it could be Tenodera angustipennis (can't quite see the base of the forelimbs).

How about now?
Can you make out the base of the forelimbs now?

Looks Yellow
Still a little hard, but it looks yellow. If it is yellow, then it is a T. sinensis. If it is orange, then it is a T. angustipennis.

T. angustipennis:

I see what you mean!
I'll keep an eye out for that next time I encounter that genus. Thanks for the clarification!
