* formerly treated as a tribe (Bryophilini) of subfamily Acronictinae by Hodges in 1983
* treated as a subfamily (Cryphiinae) by some sources
* the Old World genera Bryoleuca and Euthales were treated as valid genera in 1996 by Beck, who brought them out of synonymy with Cryphia
Explanation of Names
Bryophilinae from type genus
Bryophila (Treitschke) which was synonymized with
Cryphia (Hübner), Greek meaning "fond of moss."
