Size: 1/2aprox.
Yikes. Brilliant. Thank you so much; as soon as v belov said "Sitophilus" I went running to the bird-seed, mixed corn and seed, which I buy in 20 lb bags, and found the larva. I hope I can eradicate before they discover the route to our kitchen. Too bad the beetles are so darn cute and photogenic.

no need to eradicate
just keep the stuff outdoors... in this nice weather the pest's development will stop, and most will perish from exposure -- birds wouldn't mind one bit eating the infested stuff anyway
