camel cricket - Ceuthophilus paucispinosus - female

camel cricket - Ceuthophilus paucispinosus - Female
Ramsey Canyon, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
October 8, 2013

Turns out that this is Ceuthophilus paucispinosus
It is very close to Ceuthophilus yavapai, but found in different mountains. There are morphological differences, but they are minor. There are several other names for "species" in this group scattered around the Southwest.

Moved from Camel Crickets.

I need to spend a little more time looking at it,
but I think it will prove to be Ceuthophilus yavapai or perhaps C. arizonensis.
