Plaster beetle - confirmation and more
Hi Mark!

Family ID is correct, and I guess that it is right that several species are subsummed under the popular name. It is the case even in the page that Jim linked: The image below shows a species of Stephostethus, while the coin crawlers belong to another genus (Dienerella/Microgramme, or allied).

The one you found is Adistemia watsoni, judged by the very slender head and pronotum. It is a typical indoor-species.
(Attention: Pictures on pbase.com, labeled Adistemia, show Dienerella/Microgramme again!)

regards, Boris

sure looks right
Probably one of pests sp. commonly called 'plaster beetles'

I found several Web images on "Plaster Beetles"
and I have my doubts. Compare.

my impression
is that all Lathrid genera, especially those found in homes are referred to as mold and plaster beetles by the pest control folks (could be wrong of course). Your 'compare' certainly doesn't look close. I believe the family is correct though. The specimen looks almost as if it has been dipped in clearing agent. compare
