I stand
by my assessment on this one. I'm not aware of any bark mantises in the U.S., unless Gonatista grisea, the lichen or grizzled mantis, is considered a bark mantis. Additionally, the contributor of this image has submitted several images of adult Carolina mantises over the years; they are definitely prevalent in his area.
