native to India(3), now cosmopolitan; in our area, recorded in FL, CA, NY, ?OH (mostly interceptions); established in Cuba(2)
associated with stored food (spices, coffee, tea, rice), drugs and tobacco(2)(1)
insects infesting stored products, esp. beetles(2)
recorded from port shipments since the 20's (Weston Opitz, pers.comm. to =v= 13.iii.2014)
