10 spp. in 6 genera in our area(1), ~180 spp. in 34 genera total(2)

Range

restricted to the Americas, esp. the Neotropics; in our area, more diverse in sw. US(1); the only widespread sp. is Odontomera ferruginea(3)

Food

Some larvae are plant feeders or saprophagous in decaying plant matter.
