Histeridae? - Pseudischyrus

Histeridae? - Pseudischyrus
Ohoopee Dunes, Manuel County, Georgia, USA
September 16, 2012
Size: 5 mm
This one looks like a histerid, but I can't run it down. The shape is atypical for the family, but other aspects of the morphology suggest a histerid. Any suggestions?

nice one... thinking, T. tenebrosa
hope Paul agrees

Sorry,
Tritoma tenebrosa has black legs. I can't see the eyes (coarsely facetted = Pseudischyrus sp.; finely facetted eyes and those tibia = Tritoma angulata). Being from the Ohoopee Dunes, it could easily be a Pseudischyrus which likes sandy habitats. A good ventral photo would help identify the species... but there is a species up there that requires genitalic dissections to identify.

i had the same concerns...
but after some coin flipping thought Tritoma would be a safe bet.

thanks, Paul
moving it up, pending more photos
