Caterpillar on three-awn (Aristida sp.) - Dargida diffusa

Caterpillar on three-awn (Aristida sp.) - Dargida diffusa
Weaver Dunes, Wabasha County, Minnesota, USA
September 1, 2010
Compare pattern on the side of the head with and -- on all of these I see three wavy, dark horizontal lines near the bottom of the side of the head, with a grouping of ~4 spots just in front of the lines. Also on those other specimens (thumbnails above) there seems to be a mesh-like dark pattern above the three lines; but that's hard to make out on this specimen, due to poor focusing I think. On basis of head pattern, host plant, and overall resemblance, I'm calling this Dargida diffusa.
