Range
native to, and widespread across the Palaearctic(1), once introduced in NA for biocontrol purposes, with scattered collection records across e. Canada (NS-ON), suspected to mostly reflect incidental interceptions(2)(3)
Habitat
under bark in galleries of other beetles, usually on conifers(1)
Food
mostly beetle larvae(1)
Remarks
earliest record in our area: 1892 (intentional release to control Dendroctonus frontalis(2)
