Woodlice - Trichoniscus
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
December 2, 2006
Size: 2.5mm
Found in leaf litter.

These male woodlice have it made, 9 females to every male:-)

Hi! This tiny little thing is a Trichoniscus sp., family Trichoniscidae. Probably this belongs to the species Trichoniscus pusillus, which is a widespread parthenogenetic isopod (~90% females). However, the identification of the genus Trichoniscus is based on the morphology of males' genitals and 7th pairs of legs.
