Carabidae, Caterpillar Hunter - Calosoma wilcoxi

Carabidae, Caterpillar Hunter - Calosoma wilcoxi
Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA
Size: 21 mm
May 17, 2013: collected, a present from the Ham Fest
I happened to have a terrarium with left over meal worms so put it in there. It dug a cell under the water cup.
I checked on it weekly, sometimes I couldn't find it.
November 11, 2013: dead
I see that the end of the elytra are chewed off.

Moved
Moved from Subgenus Calodrepa.

looks like C. wilcoxi to me

Since size is the only way
I can see the difference, I wanted an expert opinion.
Thanks.

Also elytral punctures
In this species, the punctures are as wide as the intervals. In C. scrutator, the punctures are not as wide as the intervals.

Interesting. More distinctions

Actually I did
look at this and read it. If it is at all subtle, it eludes me. Maybe side by side with someone actually pointing to the differences, maybe. I keep trying.
