Good sleuthing.
There is one posting of
Apiomerus spissipes
from Iowa, although from far western Iowa. But there are no nymphs posted.
There are no
Apiomerus crassipes
photos posted for Iowa but there are photos from both Wisconsin and Illinois plus nymphs.
You’re probably correct but just in case I’ll move these to family.
