Chlaenius brevilabris - male

Chlaenius brevilabris - Male
South Beloit - under debris along the banks of the Rock River, Winnebago County, Illinois, USA
August 17, 2013
I believe this specimen to be Chlaenius brevilabris.

This specimen was keyed with the Bell monograph.

Specimen has short mandibles, normal length antennal segment #3, distinctly raised margin on prosternum, coarsely punctate proepisternum, and an emarginate labrum.

Any confirmations or corrections of this identification would be appreciated if possible given the not so great photos.

Sounds right
Based on your observations and the visible emarginate labrum, it does seem to be C. brevilabris.

Thanks!
Thanks for the confirmation Brad!
