green-backed weevil - Hypera nigrirostris

green-backed weevil - Hypera nigrirostris
Lucan Conservation Area, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada
April 29, 2004
On Marsh Marigold; smaller (4 mm) and has longer snout than the Green Immigrant Leaf Weevil (Polydrusus sericeus). Looks more like Hypera (=Phytonomus) nigrirostris shown here and here. There's relatively few green weevils to choose from.

Curculionidae: Hypera nigrirostris
It is indeed Hypera nigrirostris.

H. nigrirostris
Thanks again, Donald, for the ID. Image moved from family page to new species page.
