In separating P. analis from P. discalis, note that...besides having the marginal cell much lighter than the submarginal cell... the subscutellum here has no grey-white pollinose dusting, whereas it does have such a dusting in P. discalis, as seen in the post below:



Another character of interest in this image is the sharply defined triangular mark (or indentation) about mid-way up the hind edge of the eye. This is a key character of the subgenus Physoconops which is lacking in subgenus Pachyconops.
