Carpophilus pallipennis ? - Nitops pallipennis

Carpophilus pallipennis ? - Nitops pallipennis
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 4, 2007
In flower of Opuntia, and very frequently encountered.

Moved
Yeah, I used to collected them in Opuntia blooms in the Arizona deserts. I hope Gareth agrees (even if we have to knock him around until he does :-).

Moved from Carpophilus.

Hahaha
I do in fact agree, Luckily for me!

Well, thanks to both of you -
Those beetles are an interesting sideshow whenever I look into Opuntia flowers. Have an image of a mating pair, not very sharp and not certain its the same species. I suppose I could post it and then frass it?
With Diadasia for size comparison:

And mating pair:

images
I moved the mating pair to its place in the Guide (which means keep it for now); you can probably Frass the pic with the bee since it's not much help with regards to the beetle (or post it with the bee and link it to one of the other beetle pics...)

Thanks Blaine -
have frassed the one with the bee.
