Fairly sure this is a loricera species - Loricera pilicornis
South Fork Lake, Elko County, Nevada, USA
June 17, 2004
Size: ~7mm
On a muddy shoreline. Specimen not in the best of shape.

Moved
Moved from Loricera.

If Loricera, then species bound to be new state record!
Of the 4 species recognized in Bousquet (2012), "L. pilicornis" is geographically the most likely species to fit your collection site in far northeastern Nevada. Please persist with the identification process!

"Loricera pilicornis pilicornis"
when I apply image to Lindroth (1961). Supporting traits are dark legs + pronotum not sharply sinuate at base. This new record is added to the post-2012 caraboid registry.

Thanks, Peter
for taking the time to identify this beetle. I hope to make it back to Elko this summer and get a live image and maybe a better specimen. Awesome!
