I usually leave
one photo of the host with the host category as a link between host and parasitoid pages. Perhaps I've been doing that wrong. I don't have a photo of just this caterpillar on the
Sympistis
page in which to insert these photos as thumbs.

That's fine to do...
...the way to insure against pictures being moved like this is to reference them with thumbnail links to begin with, rather than actually linking them to the others. In this case, you can either move the above image back to the appropriate page, or post a duplicate with a link to this series. I don't have a strong preference either way.
