Size

Identification

both outdoor and indoor populations, and it is the most common Dermestes indoors in the UK(1)

Range

native to the Neotropics, now subcosmopolitan; recorded in the US, widespread in Europe(1)(2)(3)

Habitat

indoors and outdoors (in carrion and wet bird nests, esp. pigeon nests)(1)

Food

plant and animal material, incl. skins, bone meal, dried fish, fishmeal, grain (corn kernels), etc.(1)
