Cobweb Spider ID?

Cobweb Spider ID?
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
March 9, 2014
Size: 3mm
I found this cobweb spider in my bathroom. It appears to be the same kind that was submitted by Margarethe Brummermann on March 12, 2013, Photos #751274 & 751275. Steatoda albomaculata or Asagena sp. Can this be resolved?

Steatoda variata
The range and pattern match S. variata very nicely compared to the images in Gertsch, 1982 (fulva group).

I started a draft on this issue at one point, but I haven't worked on it in a while. See here.

I'll email some experts and see if I can find out more.

Is mine the same, then?
the one that's referenced above?

It's possible
I sent both images off to experts for their opinions.

Thanks Lynette!

Asagena? But mine never got further than
Subfamily either
