Formica sp. - Formica moki

Formica sp. - Formica moki
Burton Mesa Ecological Reserve, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
March 13, 2014
Size: ~4mm
Found on coyote brush (Baccharis pilularis) in Burton Mesa chaparral habitat; I think I've also seen this same species on coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia); they're about 1/3rd smaller than F. fusca
