Agonopterix sp. - Agonopterix clemensella
Verona, Augusta County, Virginia, USA

found at the incandescent porch light

Moved from Agonopterix.

identification confirmed
dissection at Cornell lab confirms the species

specimen
I have collected this moth and am willing to send the specimen for dissection to aid in identification. I notice that there are several similar looking (two white spots on forewing, homogenous tawny brown coloration) that are begging identification on this site.

Just another possibility...
... perhaps species Depressariodes ciniflonella? Your specimen looks so very similar to my specimen which I also thought was an Agonopterix moth - see here: (1).

See also map at MPG. The species is so widespread, I think Virginia might be a reasonable location to find this species.
