When I look at the published revision of the genus
I think we have been identifying these incorrectly (including myself), and that those posted here (as of today) as P. californiarium actually match P. personaria best. There are two photos labeled as "P. californiaria pasadenaria" in that publication that may have helped to mislead; they look just like several of these specimens posted at BugGuide. However, that name is treated as a synonym of P. personaria in that publication. When I look at the specimens shown at BOLD, MPG, and here at BugGuide, as of today all of them look like specimens of P. personaria, and do not seem to match P. californiaria as shown there. I think that these should be verified by looking at male genitalia, but I strongly suspect that they should all be moved to the species P. personaria.
