S. chevrolati?

Stenodontes chevrolati
I think you nailed it. While S. chevrolati is found in Cuba and elsewhere in the Caribbean, I believe its known U.S. range is only the southern tip of Florida (Dade and Monroe Counties). it's the only one I have seen in my 37 years in Miami.

It's an enormous beetle!
Would you please fill in the date?

Stenodontes chevrolati
Sorry for the late update. The body is so large I had trouble reading the date on the label beneath it. I collected this beetle 6-14-79 in South Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida.
