Shadow Darner - Aeshna umbrosa

Shadow Darner - Aeshna umbrosa
Buckingham, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 30, 2012
A very large dragonfly resting about 3 m above the ground on a large tree trunk in a wood lot near a stream and a freshwater marsh. It never moved lower for a better shot while I was there.
A closer crop to possibly aid ID.

Aeshna sp.
A shot of the side of the thorax would have been helpful for specific i.d. The shape of the stripes on the side of the thorax is very important for i.d of Darners.
