Entomobrya suzannae
Hi Cheryl. Dr Christiansen's opinion:
"It looks very much like Entomobrya suzannae which is so far only known from California but Washington would not be surprising. I would have to see the specimens to be certain."
If you find more specimens, you might want to collect some, store them in ethanol 70% and send the sample to Dr Christiansen for proper ID.

Entomobrya washingtonia
Hi Cheryl, this is a tricky one. At first I thought it was E. nivalis. But it lacks the typical U shaped pattern at its abdomen. Next match is E. muscorum. But this species is not yet recorded from the US...
For the time being, I would keep it as E. washingtonia, although I cannot see at the picture what is true pigmentation and what is transparent gut contents. So, the ID is just tentative.

Thank you,
I'll see if I can run across more. I see little guys the same shape & general size pretty regularly in the same general area of the house. Maybe I can rig up something like Jim McClarin's light arena...
