which skipper? - Polygonus histrio

which skipper? - Polygonus histrio
Stock Island, Monroe County, Florida, USA
March 1, 2014
Size: 1.5 inches
This skipper always rested on the underside of mostly leaves. Made me think of a Brazilian Skipper in terms of size but otherwise I'm not sure. Any ideas & help will be greatly appreciated!

Polygonus leo
I believe this is Polygonus leo, Hammock Skipper.

Is this a male then?
I had photographed a hammock skipper last yr & thru this website's help, I was told Hammock Skipper but I can't attach that here [or at least don't know how] so I guess the one from last yr is a female & the one from this yr a male? Again, I'm grateful for the assistance as I'm learning!

Not sure
I'm afraid I have no idea how to tell the sexes apart in this species. Since none of the other adult images have that designation, they are probably too similar to tell apart from photos.

Can I send you a photo?
Is it possible to send you what I think is a previously ID female Hammock Skipper? If not, it's in my collection of images on this website - pg. 7; 4th one from left to right, in between a red dragonfly and a photo of a pair of Antillean Skimmers. Let me know what you think ~ thanks!

I saw the previous photo
I found your other photo of another Hammock Skipper from last year and no one made any mention of female, but that doesn't mean it isn't...I just can't tell. It's a nice picture. I hope to see one of these skipper next time I visit Florida!

thanks for checking
very grateful for your input & for taking the time to look at my older photo ~ Hammock Skipper it is!! Cheers!
