Det. Sandra L. Brantley

Moved from Podisus.

Moved from Apoecilus cynicus.

Sorry about the extra move, got mixed up at first. This looks very consistent with Podisus maculiventris that I reared out from Grant County, NM.

This one should probably be reconsidered given the comments below.

Apoecilus cynicus --det. D.B. Thomas
Moved from Podisus.

Dr. Thomas probably has a better understanding of this than I do
But how sure was he? This really looks more like Podisus to me. I didn't know wing membranes got that light in Apoecilus. The faint black lines where the wings come together look Podisus-like as well. Haven't seen too many Apoecilus from the Southwest though, so maybe it's just regional differences.

keys to Podisus in McPherson
Length usually less that 12 mm;
no notch in 'nose' (or as McPherson says, "juga equals tylus" (1))

Podisus

Length usually more than 14 mm;
juga slightly exceeding tylus

Apoecilus
.

maculiventris, i suppose

That was
what I was thinking when I searched but, I was not sure.
