According to the Pacific Northwest Moths species page for Apamea niveivenosa, this species is dimorphic; see here for detailed description of the two variants at PNW Moths. The specimens submitted thus far on BugGuide represent the more true looking 'Snowy-veined' variant, or subspecies Apamea niveivenosa niveivenosa.

This specimen represents the other variant with more "light orange-tan forewings with a washed-out pattern" - subspecies Apamea niveivenosa obscuroides.
