Andrena macrocephala ? - Andrena nigripes - Female
Happy Canyon, elev. 642 m, San Raphael Mountains, Santa Barbara County, California, USA

Size: 11 mm
Same species as seen in 2012 at the same site, also in Pholistoma auritum.
Have not had time to go over all details, but A. macrocephala may be a match. If subgenus Oligandrena, only A. macrocephala has dorsum of thorax with red hair (LaBerge, 1985). Also, A. macrocephala has been collected from "Nemophila aurita", now a synonym for Pholistoma auritum.

Looks like that species
But the name has changed to Andrena nigripes Provancher in a recent paper by Cory Sheffield

Do you still have this bee, Hartmut? What do the scopa look like at the trochanter and prpodeum?
