Our first thought was that this was going to be
some Syrphid fly larva, but that would not be anywhere near an inch in size. More likely a centimeter. So now we're not sure. Although if those are fingers in the background, then this larva is much smaller than an inch.

yes i guess it was more like less than a half inch and those are fingers
