. Thanks, Ken, with the dark antenna segments, this seems to match
alata
, and the guide page says that is distinctive. This would have been the first BugGuide record for A. alata if I had identified it correctly at the time.

The spot on the pronotum is missing.
Of course, that could be due to the overall darkness of this particular individual.

Yes, I noticed lack of spot
Maybe some wear? It looks a bit worn. Looking at images here, it looks like the dark spot is a patch that does not have the thick pubescence found on the rest of the pronotum. Adding additional images in case that helps.
