Buprestid - Phaenops fulvoguttata - Female
Domaine de la Foret, Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada

Size: 10.5 mm
I remember finding this one on the tiles at the edge of a swimming pool. I'm guessing it's a Phaenops sp ... any ideas about the species?

Phaenops fulvoguttata
I sent this image along to Rick Westcott since I'm not too familiar with the Melanophila or Phaenops. This is what he had to say..."Quite surely it is Phaenops fulvoguttata. Note the coarsely punctured pronotum, which P. drummondi lacks...in the latter, the pronotum is very finely rugose."

Host?
Josh,
Did Westcott give you any idea about what the host and range is for this species?

Sorry Jason, I don't know any
Sorry Jason, I don't know any host off the top of my head but I am sure that it is a miner of pines of some sort. If I can remember I'll try to find out for you. Just went through a divorce and with two jobs I don't have much time for bups. I'll see what I can come up with.
