Scaphinotus infletus - male

Scaphinotus infletus - Male
nr. Ponca, Bufalo National River, Steel Creek, Newton County, Arkansas, USA
October 23, 2013
Size: 11 mm
Scaphinotus infletus, an Arkansas endemic. This specimen was collected less than 5 miles from the type locality.

Additional specimens were collected in late May (3 females), and late September through early November (7 females, 4 males). All the Scaphinotus(Nomaretus) males from the site were S. infletus, so I'm assuming the females are that species as well. They're only identifiable by aedaegal characters and the squamous pads in the males.

You probably already know this, but the pronotum can be used to identify two other possibilities for that area, S. cavicollis and S. fissicollis. The former has a larger number of setae on the pronotum and in the latter the pronotum is cordate. What was the habitat, rocky hillside?
