Wow.
What a magnificent image! This is the last instar (last immature stage) of a male Scudderia furcata (fork-tailed bush katydid). Almost positive of the species because you can clearly see the subgenital plate. While a dorsal shot would confirm that, this side view shows how blunt that appendage is, cmpared to more slender, often angular subgenital plates on males of other Scudderia.
