Very nice! I have records of this species in S-CA from 1986 and 2006. It is also known from Canada (BC) and France.... originally it is from Australia...

for the speedy ID! I thought it looked like a soldier fly, but very distinctive with that spiky scutellum and I couldn't find it in any of my local guides. It's obvious why, now!
