his comment: "the host information is interesting since almost all collections of this species are on Sambucus, which is the known larval host"

I don't know enough about insects but could this little beetle have been out for a walk, or a flyabout, or got blown about rather than on it's host?

Moved...hope I got this right; could also be a nitidulid
