I think its a Hydrophilidae, but there are a couple of similar genera.

I'm pretty sure its Hydrochus, a Hydrophilid (according to Bugguide). look at

Hydrochus rather than Hel*ophorus.

Thanks for the genus ID. Based on D&A, it should be Hydrochus subcupreous Randall.
