Beetle - Anthrenus scrophulariae

Beetle - Anthrenus scrophulariae
Chassell, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
April 8, 2014
Size: 3 mm
This beetle was on my porch railing. We still have 2 to 3 feet of snow on the ground, but the temperature got up to 60.
The beetle was so tiny that I thought it was some kind of scat. Once I looked at it through my magnifying glass, I could
see its' legs. It started to walk as I took pictures of it. The habitat has White Spruce, Sugar Maple, Yellow Birch,
and White Pine near our house. The location is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake Superior. Would
anyone know what kind of beetle it is. Thank you.
