Habropoda pallida - female

Habropoda pallida - Female
Kelso Dunes, Mojave National Preserve, San Bernardino County, California, USA
April 10, 2014
"The female of pallida differs from all our other species in having the clypeus, supraclypeal mark and a small spot on mandibles creamy white." (Timberlake, 1937) - see adjacent photo.
I watched several females digging burrows, also in Creosote bush flowers (Larrea tridentata). While kneeling between a couple of very high bushes a mating couple landed right by my knees. Unfortunately I had neither camera nor net ready.
