Size
Tiny spiders; body length (excluding legs) of adults roughly .97 - 1.4 millimeters.
Range
S. apertus — found throughout Alaska and Canada and also recorded from Maine; also Europe.(2)(3)
S. penifusifer — widespread in Canada, from British Columbia to Newfoundland, and also found across northern USA (published USA records seem to be mainly from the east, e.g. ME, MI, NY, WI, and SCAN(4) lists one specimen from CO).(5)(2)(3)
S. volutasilex — this is a recently (2007) described species recorded from Alberta, Quebec, and Newfoundland.(6)(2)
