Mompha bottimeri? - Mompha bottimeri

Mompha bottimeri? - Mompha bottimeri
Guadalupe County, Texas, USA
April 12, 2014
The info page lists Mississippi as the westernmost state for M. bottimeri (although MPG also shows an Alabama record).

[Edit: M. passerella looks like another possibility. According to this page, M. passerella has been collected at Stengl "Lost Pines" Biological Station in Texas.]

Moved
Moved to genus and tentatively to species from Moths.

bottimeri
Based on coloration characters that I am not sure are reliable, this is M. bottimeri rather than M. passerella; they are externally similar. If M. passerella has been found in your area, then M. bottimeri is also possible, as they share some of the same host plants.

Thanks!
I revised the remarks to include a link to the site that references M. passerella being found in Texas. As far as these images, I'll go ahead and move them tentatively to M. bottimeri.
