A green darner, but is it *the* Green darner? - Anax junius
Graham Swamp Conservation Area, Flagler County, Florida, USA
April 10, 2014
Four images will accompany this submission to show different angles and zooms. My best guess is Anax junius, the Green darner, but the dragonflies (like most arthropods) often throw me for a curve. There were two individuals slumbering restfully behind an outdoor public restroom facility along the edge of Graham Swamp Sanctuary. Of note, the wall was facing west -- opposite from the rising sun to the east. These images were taken shortly before 8:00 am. I would've liked to have gotten a front-facial shot, but it was fairly high up and I was reach just to get a lateral view (the original orientation is, of course, facing upward -- not sideways). Your kindly help would be greatly appreciated!

Common green darner
is the official common name. It's a female. You can fraas the wing picture and closeup of the thorax. A picture of the top of the head would have shown the distinctive "bullseye"
